Key Performance Indicators software (KPI) is a high level project management system. KPI is designed to help a business set goals, track progress and reward successful employees while allowing managers to keep the overall picture in perspective.
Business goals are different for each organization. Their KPI, or the measurement indicating if the business is meeting its goals, are also very different. Unless the software is tailored, most software is not capable of changing to the extent that an accurate KPI system would require. This is because most software companies create a generic “one-size-fits-all” system and sell it to hundreds or even thousands of companies. Tailored software will allow change as your company changes and/or grows. Tailored KPI software is uncommon and even hard to find because the concept has rarely been translated into a software platform.
With a system to organize and visual KPI, managers are able to understand and evaluate their teams’ progress. KPI software should allow one to assign employees and groups of employees to projects, set deadline dates for tasks and recognize accomplishments. Tailored KPI takes their concept beyond the abstract and forms concrete ways to track your company’s goals.
